Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez launched the Bacolod City Comprehensive Health Program (BacCHP) at the lobby of the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) on Tuesday, July 19.
A 5-day medical mission sponsored by Jaime V. Ongpin Foundation is also ongoing at the BCGC, he added
The BacCHP, which is a priority of the Benitez administration, aims to ensure the delivery of an integrated health care system that includes preventive, promotive, and curative health care coverage by maximizing resources and programs of the government, City Administrator Pacifico Maghari said.
Maghari said with the help of the City Health Office, barangay officials and health workers, and in coordination with the Konsulta program of PhilHealth, the curative health care service will provide assistance and coordinate to no-copay confinement in government and private hospitals to ensure that patients have access to quality medical care.
Services include medical check-ups, select laboratory services and free maintenance medicines, Maghari said.
Benitez said he was keeping his campaign promise to give every Bacolodnon a health card that they can use when they are hospitalized.
Registration for BacCHP coverage began Tuesday at the BCGC, where the medical history of residents were recorded so addressing their health needs will be easier, Benitez said.
This will also determine who needs regular maintenance medicine, he said.
He said there are just a few things that need to be fixed before the BacCHP becomes fully operational.
Benitez said he is seeking the Sangguniang Panlungsod’s approval for him to sign agreements with private hospitals.*
