BCPO offering rewards to solve slay cases

Rewards ranging from P20,000 to P50,000 will be given to witnesses who can give tips vital to solving unsolved murder cases in Bacolod City.

This was announced by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) that has intensified efforts to bring justice to the victims.

There were about 11 unsolved murder cases in Bacolod from January to July 2024, all of them shooting incidents, a BCPO press release said.

BCPO Acting Director Col. Joeresty Coronica directed the Bacolod Police Stations and investigative units to prioritize the resolution of cases such as murder, rape, robbery, theft, carnapping, vehicle theft, and other sensational or significant cases.

Of the 11 unsolved cases, nine of them already have established motives and identified persons of interest but the families executed affidavits of non-interest, the press release said.

The BCPO will implement a reward system where witnesses, particularly civilians, who can give testimonies to help solve the cases will be rewarded from P20,000 to P50,000, it said.

The amount of the reward will be based on the gravity of the testimonies, it added.

The BCPO called on the public to help assist their efforts by coming forward with information that could be vital in solving the cases.
