A Bacolodnon was shot dead at Araneta Street in Brgy. Tangub, Bacolod City, Saturday, Oct. 26.
The victim, whose name was withheld by the police, was 44 years old and a resident of Brgy. Pahanocoy.
The victim was on his motorcycle waiting on the side of road when two suspects arrived and suddenly shot him thrice in the head, Capt. Greeky Cayao, Police Station 8 Commander, said.
The suspects immediately fled while the victim was brought to a hospital where he was declared dead.
Scene of the Crime Operatives found gunshot wounds in the victim’s head and neck and recovered four empty shells and one fired bullet of unknown caliber at the scene of the crime.
The police also recovered six sachets of suspected shabu from the victim, which weighed 10 grams with estimated street drug price of P68,000.
Cayao said that they are looking into the possibility that the killing is connected to the illegal drug trade.
In 2018, the victim was arrested for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act but was freed in 2023.
The police also said they are looking at CCTV footage around the area taken at the time of the incident.*
