
The Bacolod City Sangguniang Panlungsod passed a resolution expressing its condolences on the passing of National Artist Nora Aunor.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod, in a resolution approved Wednesday, April 23, expressed its deepest sympathy and condolences to the family, friends, and admirers of Nora Villamayor, or known as Nora Aunor.
Nora, also known as “Ate Guy” or the “Superstar” of the Philippine cinema, is one of the greatest Filipino actresses of all time with a career spanning over 50 years, the resolution authored by Councilor Em Ang said.
The resolution also cited Aunor’s work comprising more than 170 films, numerous stage productions, music records, and concerts in the Philippines and abroad, showcasing her versatility and range as a performer.
Her films like “Himala”, “Minsa’y Isang Gamu-gamo”, and “Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos” continue to inspire and influence new generations of artists and filmmakers, the resolution added.
Aunor passed away on April 16 due to acute respiratory failure and with her National Artist status, was given a state funeral at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on Tuesday, April 22.*
