Bacolod City government’s partnership with G-Xchange Inc., a leading corporation in the Philippines specializing in remittance services and mobile payment solutions, was launched at the Bacolod City Government Center Wednesday afternoon, May 17.
This collaboration signifies Bacolod City government’s commitment to embracing digitalization and leveraging technology to enhance government services, a press release said.
The signing of the agreement was led by Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez with GCash AVP Head of Public Sector and Partnerships Cathlyn Pavia and LGU Leader for Visayas and Mindanao JR Marfori, and Bacolod City Treasuer Arlene Memoria.
Under the implementing agreement, GXI will provide Bills Payment services to the city government through its widely-used GCash platform.
Bacolod City will scale up its GCash payment acceptance to more than just real property and business taxes, locals will now be able to use it to pay for other taxes such as amusement taxes and fees such as marriage license fee, market rental charge and more, the press release said.
Upon successful transactions, GCash subscribers will receive instant notifications via SMS, it added.
The city government and GXI will also explore opportunities for joint development of future services that can be incorporated into the digital payment ecosystem.
By leveraging the power of technology, the city government aims to enhance convenience, efficiency, and accessibility for its constituents, the press release said.*
