Police said the killing of a teacher allegedly by a college student inside the victim’s house in Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod City, is now considered solved after the suspect was arrested and a murder complaint was filed.

Police Capt. Jay-R Reyes, commander of Bacolod City Police Station 7, said on  Monday, June 15, that  the murder complaint has already been filed before the  Bacolod City prosecutor’s office.

Reyes said the suspect has opted to avail of a preliminary investigation and has 10 days to answer the complaint against him.

Police withheld the identities of the victim and the suspect upon the request of the victim’s family.

Reyes clarified that although the suspect is a college student, he is already 24 years old and is considered a legal adult.

He said the suspect is under the custody of Police Station 7.

Investigation showed that the victim and suspect had known each other for about a year, and the suspect had visited the victim’s house several times before the incident.

Police reports also indicated that a commotion occurred inside the house before the victim was found dead.

Reyes said the quick response of the police and the cooperation of residents helped in the immediate arrest of the suspect near the area.

Authorities have yet to release the full chronology of the incident as the investigation continues.*
