
A 26-year-old construction worker from Bacolod City was injured after he was shot while walking along the highway in Brgy. Sto. Niño, E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental, Thursday afternoon, July 31.
The victim was identified as Prince Allan Hortelyosa, a resident of Purok Sigay, Brgy. Magsungay, Singcang Airport, Bacolod City.
Police said Hortelyosa was walking on the roadside at around 5:35 p.m. when an unidentified gunman approached and shot him.
The victim was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City.
Police went to the victim’s residence to interview his live-in partner, Jonelyn Palacios, 26, to determine possible motives and identify potential suspects.
Based on initial findings, police believe the motive behind the shooting may be a personal grudge.
A hot pursuit operation in coordination with nearby police stations is ongoing to track the suspect and any possible getaway vehicle.*
