Hotels in Bacolod City are now in full capacity for the weekend of October 19 to 22, when the MassKara Festival goes full blast to celebrate the highlights.

Bobby Magalona, Hotel and Restaurant Association of Negros Occidental (HRANO) president, said this weekend alone, establishments in the city have already posted a 70 percent occupancy rate, a press release from the Bacolod Yuhum Foundation said Wednesday, October 11.

“We are thankful for the economic opportunity this festival brings as it shows we are really gaining popularity as a festival and this translates to positive economic growth,” Magalona said.

He said that because of the high occupancy rate, hotels and restaurants have hired additional manpower and “we can imagine what these employment, even if temporary, brings to the lives of these people.”

HRANO sat down with Bacolod Yuhum Foundation yesterday and was reminded by Festival Chairperson Jojie Dingcong to “put your best foot forward and give a great experience to our visitors.”

Councilor Jayson Villarosa, chairman of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Tourism, also welcomed the news from HRANO and said, this is not only good for Bacolod but for the province as well as the spillover due to full capacity will benefit them.

“With this development, we will clearly reach our target,” Villarosa said.*
