Dengue cases in Bacolod City were 2,617 in 2024 or a 335.9 percent increase compared to 2023, the City Health Office reported on Friday, Jan. 10
There were also seven probable dengue related deaths from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2024, and three in 2023, it said.
Among the Bacolod barangays, Taculing had the highest number of recorded dengue cases with 274, followed by Mansilingan with 216, Estefania – 188, Bata – 182, Villamonte – 159, Tangub – 142, Mandalagan – 138, Alijis – 133, Singcang-Airport – 126, Sum-ag – 116, Banago – 100, Cabug and Vista Alegre – 97 each, and Granada – 92.
From Dec. 8 to 14, there were 50 dengue cases reported, 51 cases on Dec. 15 to 21, and 65 from Dec. 22 to 31, CHO records also showed.
The CHO reminded the public to help mitigate dengue by destroying breeding areas of mosquitoes, especially within their residences.
The public was also reminded to seek early consultation if there are possible dengue symptoms, self-protect through using mosquito repellants or wearing long sleeves and pants, and supporting fogging or spraying initiatives in dengue hotspot areas.
