Bacolod cops arrest 2 suspects in robbery of doctor

Two suspects in the robbery hold-up of a doctor in Bacolod City, which was caught on CCTV, were arrested in separate follow-up operations by  the police on  Saturday and Sunday, May 30 and 31.

The Bacolod City Police Office said the robbery happened in Brgy. 19 on Thursday,  May 28, when the 30-year-old doctor was entering her boarding house along Galo Street after a 24-hour shift.

CCTV footage showed one of the suspects rushing toward the victim and grabbing her bag, while another suspect waited nearby on a motorcycle.

The victim fought back and shouted for help, but the suspects allegedly threatened her and fled with her mobile phones.

Police identified the first arrested suspect as alias “Rem,” 37, a resident of Brgy. 40, Bacolod City.

He was arrested at around 9 p.m. on Saturday at the Brgy. 40 barangay hall through an operation conducted by Police Station 1 in coordination with the victim.

The second suspect, alias “Shan,” 32, a resident of Brgy. Cabug, was arrested at around 1:20 a.m. on Sunday through a joint operation of Police Station 1 and the City Intelligence Unit.

Recovered from alias “Shan” were a Yamaha Sniper 150 motorcycle, an iPhone 17 Pro, and a Samsung Galaxy A55 5G.

The victim earlier said she sustained injuries to her head and back during the struggle.

Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya earlier announced a P100,000 reward to help authorities identify and locate the suspects, while the Philippine National Police had also offered a P100,000 reward, bringing the total reward to P200,000.

“We encourage anyone who may have information regarding these incidents to coordinate with our police authorities,” Gasataya said.

Both suspects were brought to Police Station 1 for documentation and proper disposition.*
