Bacolod cop nabbed for indiscriminate firing

A policeman was detained for firing his service firearm in front of St. Vincent Village in Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod City, early Tuesday, January 4.

The policeman was identified as Pat. Jeric Panganiban of Bacolod Police Station 9 and a resident of the village.

The complainant identified as Archie Rex Jocson went to Police Station 7 and claimed that the policeman chased him, while he was onboard a vehicle with his family, and fired his firearm twice.

Capt. Elmer Bonilla, Police Station 7 commander, said the complainant allegedly taunted the policeman who was in the middle of the street after his motorcycle broke down.

This allegedly prompted the policeman to chase him and fire his gun, he said.

He added that both parties have already settled the issue, but the police will continue to investigate the incident as the cop fired his gun indiscriminately.*
