The 17-kilometer Bacolod Coastal Road is one of 10 priority projects in Western Visayas that the Regional Development Council is submitting to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) for funding, Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, said on Monday, Dec. 11.

The coastal road from barangays Banago to Punta Taytay is being pushed to decongest traffic in Bacolod.

The 10 priority projects were identified during the Region 6 RDC meeting held in Macau, China, last week, chaired by Benitez.

Benitez said the 10 projects are mostly on social services and infrastructure.

The DBM and the National Economic and Development Authority are asking the RDCs to prioritize their 10 projects that will be funded automatically, he said.

They will be submitting the WV priority projects next month for inclusion in the 2025 national budget, Benitez said.

The other WV priority projects are the Aklan cruise port hub; the modernization of Guimaras’ parola ports; the heart, lung and kidney center; shared service facilities for solid waste management; farm schools; smart agriculture system; regional warehouses for disaster response and management; the Panay River Basin Integrated Development Project; the Iloilo-Capiz-Aklan Expressway; and Iloilo Circumferential Roads, and other vital/strategic road networks.*
