Bacolod BSKE winners mass oathtaking Nov.10

Mansilingan Barangay Captain Franz Tionko and Singcang-Airport Barangay Captain Caesar Distrito take their oaths before Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez (l-r) – who will the Bacolod Liga ng mga Barangay president be?

A mass oathtaking of all Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Election (BSKE) winners in Bacolod City will be held at the SMX Convention Center Bacolod on November 10, Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said on Friday.

He said although numerous winning candidates have already taken their oaths before him, the event on November 10 will be a formal mass oathtaking ceremony of all the 976 newly elected officials.

Benitez said his good governance program for barangay officials will be presented during the mass oath taking.

Meanwhile, Benitez said several winning barangay captains’ names have surfaced as contenders for the Bacolod Liga ng mga Barangay presidency.

Benitez said he heard among them are winning Singcang-Airport Barangay Captain Caesar Distrito, a former Bacolod councilor and his runningmate in the last election, and Mansilingan Barangay Captain Franz Tionko, daughter of Bacolod Rep. Greg Gasataya.

The Liga ng mga Barangay president will sit as a member of the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod.

Meanwhile, Benitez issued Memorandum Order 0169 for the implementation of Department of the Interior and Local Government Memorandum Circular No. 2023-166 directing all sitting/outgoing Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan officials to fast track the conduct of the final inventory of barangay and SK properties, financial records, documents and properties (PFRDS) and money accountabilities.

The mayor directed the city accountant, chairperson of the City Assessment and Transition Team (CATT), to coordinate and collaborate with the DILG city director and other members of the CATT to ensure compliance with the DILG circular.

There shall be a transition period not to exceed three weeks to ensure proper and smooth transition of governance, accountabilities and actual turnover of barangay and SK PFRDs and money accountabilities, and to secure/comply with the bonding requirements and other requisites under existing laws, rules and regulations, he said.*
