Bacolod biz permit applicants increase by 8 percent in 2023

The number of business permit applicants in Bacolod City increased by about 8 percent in 2023 compared to 2022, Stella Rayos, Bacolod Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) head, said Monday, January 15.

There were 25,371 business permit applicants in 2023 and about 23,000 in 2022, Rayos said.

Rayos attributed the increase in business permit applicants to the city government’s intensified inspection of businesses, and the closure of establishments without permits.

There are also a lot of new buildings and businesses in the city, she added.

She said that as of Friday, January 12, the business registration applicants for 2024 were 9,800.

Businesses can avail of a 10 percent discount on their Business Tax if they pay on or before January 20, Rayos also said.*
