The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) reported that there were no major crime incidents recorded during the Bacolaodiat Festival from Jan. 28 to Feb. 2.

The festival was generally peaceful with zero major incidents, the BCPO reported Monday, Feb. 3.

Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez also described the festival as successful.

The BCPO deployed uniformed personnel, force multipliers, and intelligence operatives to key areas of the festival such as the Yuan Thong Temple along Burgos Street, and at the Lantern Street Dance and Cultural Competition and Emperor’s Market sites at the North Capitol Road and Lacson Street.

They also deployed security personnel in Bacolod malls, especially during the grand fireworks display.

Roving patrols and checkpoints were also conducted to prevent untoward incidents, while traffic enforcers ensured smooth vehicular and pedestrian movement, the BCPO also said.

The police thanked the festival organizers and the public for their cooperation in making the Bacolaodiat Festival peaceful.*
