The Philippine National Police (PNP), in collaboration with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), conducted inspections across Negros Oriental, leading to the confiscation of illegal firecrackers and pyrotechnics.
Lt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO), reported on Friday, Dec. 27, that prohibited items were seized in Manjuyod and Vallehermoso towns.
Among the confiscated items were 35 pieces (one box) of Poppop in Manjuyod, as well as 300 pieces of Five Star and 10 pieces of Super Candle Bomb in Vallehermoso.
Polinar noted that regular patrols are being carried out to ensure vendors comply with designated firecracker zones.
Those found selling outside these zones will face confiscation of their goods.
The seized firecrackers are set for disposal on Dec. 31 at the NOPPO headquarters.
Prohibited firecrackers include watusi, piccolo, pla-pla, Hello Columbia, Goodbye Napoles, Super Yolanda, giant bawang, giant whistle bombs, pillbox, boga, and large-sized judas belts.*PNA
