Rep. Ma. Lourdes “Marilou” Arroyo has initiated the distribution of wheelchairs to persons with disabilities in the 5th District of Negros Occidental.
Sixty wheelchairs, 10 for each local government unit in the fifth district, were distributed to the beneficiaries, a press release from Arroyo’s office said today, January 7.
The move was in response to the need of persons with disabilities who have no access to assistive devices, Arroyo, who chairs the House Committee on Persons with Disabilities, said.
“I hope that these wheelchairs can help them with their daily mobility and productivity. I hope that I was able to put smiles on their faces,” Arroyo said.
Arroyo thanked Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and Governor Eugenio Lacson for supporting the initiative.*
