The Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division line units in Negros Island are on high alert amid heavy rains brought on by Typhoon “Bebinca” and the series of seismic activities at Mt. Kanlaon.
The 303rd Infantry Brigade activated and mobilized its Disaster Response Task Units (DRTUs) and is closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of communities, the 3ID announced.
Included in the mobilization were DRTUs from the 62nd, 79th, and 94th Infantry Battalions, while reservists from the 605th Community Defense Center, were also placed on alert and stand ready for deployment, the 3ID said.
“We are closely monitoring the developments of Tropical Storm ‘Bebinca’ and the seismic activity of Mt. Kanlaon. We have also activated our disaster response teams and are prepared to assist local government units in their disaster preparedness efforts,” Maj. Gen. Marion R. Sison, 3ID Commander, said.
Sison also urged Negrenses to stay vigilant, follow instructions of local authorities, and prepare for possible evacuations by having an emergency kit ready.
“With the cooperation of everyone, we are prepared and committed to respond to any emergency situation, ensuring the safety and security of our people in Negros,” he added.*
