Army bestows medals, awards on Negros soldiers 

The Army’s Visayas Command chief gave awards, including gold and silver cross medals, to six Negros soldiers,  during his visit to the 303rd Infantry Brigade Headquarters in Camp Gerona, Murcia, Negros Occidental, on Tuesday, May 28. 

Lt. Gen. Fernando Reyeg,  Visayas Commander of the Armed Forces of the Philippines,  awarded two gold cross medals, one silver cross medal, a Gawad sa Kaunlaran Award, and two Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Operation Ribbons. 

The Gold Cross Medals were conferred to 1LT. Elmar Malano of the 94th Infantry Battalion and Cpl. Glen Constantino of the 62IB, for their meritorious service and bravery during successful encounters against the remnants of the New People’s Army. 

The Silver Cross Medal was awarded to Capt. Ricky Bartolome of the 79IB for his distinguished service and valor during focused military operations in Calatrava. 

Capt. Roselyn Balean from the  62IB was also recognized with a Gawad sa Kaunlaran award for her contributions to socio-economic development and non-combat activities through the Solar Lights Electrification Project in Barangay Tabon, Vallehermoso, Negros Oriental.  

 Cpl. Roshin Moralidad and Private First Class Buenabe Jun Forro of the 79IB received the Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Operation Ribbon for their valuable services during humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations. 

BGen. Orlando Edralin, 303ed commander, commended the troops for their bravery and dedication in joint security operations in Negros Island.  

Reyeg praised the 303IB’s unwavering commitment to peace and intensified efforts against the NPA  in the region.*
