Ang: 7 more at Transcom test positive for COVID-19

Seven more employees of Transcom Bacolod have tested positive for COVID-19, Bacolod City Administrator Em Ang said today, February 9.

The seven who are asymptomatic have been placed in city isolation facilities, Ang, who is also Bacolod Emergency Operations Center Task Force executive director, said.

The seven were among the 121 Transcom employees who were tested for COVID-19 late last week before the firm resumed onsite operations Monday, February 8, she said.

She said the 114 who tested negative can resume onsite work at Transcom.

Earlier, 41 Transcom employees also tested positive for the virus prompting the city government to temporarily shut down its operations for disinfection of facilities.

Close contacts of the COVID-positive Transcom employees outside the workplace all tested negative, Ang said.

Transcom is now BaCTrac (Bacolod Contract Tracing) system compliant, Ang said.

BaCTrac is a web and mobile-based app that enables the EOC Task Force to swiftly locate people suspected of having contact with COVID-19 patients.

Transcom has also complied with all the EOC recommendations to keep its workplace safe from COVID-19, Ang added.

Transcom in a statement last week said to advance the safety and wellbeing of all Transcom Bacolod onsite employees, all of them are now required to undergo antigen testing every seven days. Antigen tests yield faster results and detect proteins found on the surface of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Transcom pledges to cooperate with the Bacolod LGU to ensure that its employees and their families are shielded from the virus, it said.

It has also increased its work at home operations in Bacolod from 75 percent to 95 percent, it added.*
