An American senior citizen drowned at Poblacion Beach in Brgy. 2, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental, Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 28.
Ray Woods, 86, of Kansas, USA, and temporarily residing at Zayco Land Resort in Kabankalan City, drowned when strong current carried him away.
Investigation revealed that the victim was with his friend Dana Wesley, who is also an American and currently residing in Ilog town, to have lunch.
They went to the beach to swim and suddenly the victim fell as a huge wave hit him.
Wesley and some concerned citizens tried to help the victim whom they rushed to the City Health Office but he was declared dead on arrival.*
