A measure seeking to institutionalize the Zero-Balance Billing Program is currently under review by a Technical Working Group (TWG) of the House Committee on Health, Deputy House Speaker and Bacolod Rep. Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez said on Wednesday, June 17.
House Bill No. 5203, which he authored, aims to make healthcare more accessible by strengthening PhilHealth coverage and streamlining government medical assistance, Benitez said in a Facebook post.
If enacted into law, the bill will reduce or eliminate hospital bills for qualified patients while expanding PhilHealth benefits and financial protection.
Benitez added that the proposed legislation will simplify access to medical assistance through a more efficient system, strengthen support for patients in both public and private hospitals, and ensure that no Filipino is denied treatment due to financial hardship.*
