Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez said on Tuesday, August 27, that he is also joining the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas soon.

Benitez, a former PDP Laban member, said he and the Asenso Bacolod members who are not affiliated with other national parties will join PFP, the political party of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Other national parties are affiliated with PFP anyway, he said.

There were 210 officials, including 14 mayors, from Negros Island Region who joined the PFP at rites held at L’ Fisher Hotel in Bacolod City on Monday.

Benitez said he has not talked to South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr., PFP president, yet but they will come up with a PFP chain of command as far as Bacolod and Negros Occidental is concerned.

When it comes to conflicts among local candidates of the PFP for the 2025 polls, Benitez said his suggestion is to go with the incumbent, although its will have to be dealt with on a case to case basis.

Benitez the said he will announce the position he will run for and the members of his lineup for the 2025 polls in Bacolod City soon.

“We will make our official announcement at the proper time once we have made our final decision,” he said.

The fielding of bets in Bacolod for 2025 will be peaceful because he “sees very smooth sailing in the administration ticket”, Benitez said.*
