Mayor Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez said on Tuesday, Nov. 14, that the Bacolod City government will assist incoming barangay captains in filing charges against outgoing officials found responsible for missing government assets or funds in their barangays.
This will be in collaboration with the City Accounting Office and the Commission on Audit, he said.
The documents will show if the expenses of the previous administrations were in order, Benitez also said.
The barangay captains will have to initiate the filing of charges and the city government will assist, he said.
There are a couple of barangays being eyed, and the previous officials will have to be explain or face charges, he said.
The newly elected barangay officials in Bacolod have already assumed their posts, he said.
He advised the new officials not to sign that they had received barangay assets if they have not seen.
If the outgoing officials do not cooperate, they wave their right to the proper process, Benitez said.*
