A pregnant woman was injured while her 8-month-old baby died after she was hit by a stray bullet in Purok Zone 4, Brgy. V.F. Gustilo, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, during All Souls’ Day on Nov. 2.
Lt. Lovella Cordova, Cadiz City deputy police chief, told DIGICAST NEGROS, that the 34-year-old pregnant woman was injured after she was hit in the abdomen by a bullet.
The victim was at the house of her sister when the 38-year-old suspect accidentally fired a 357 caliber revolver.
The victim was brought to the Cadiz District Hospital and later transferred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, while the suspect surrendered to the police on Nov. 3.
The woman survived the incident but her 8-monh-old baby in her womb died.
Cordova said that the suspect could be charged for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide but the family of the victim filed an affidavit of non-interest in filing a case against him.
The police filed a case for illegal possession of a firearm against the suspect who is detained at the Cadiz City Police Station.*
