The Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region (PRO NIR) deployed 897 personnel to secure the Buglasan Festival 2025 in Negros Oriental that kicked off Thursday, Oct. 16.

A send-off ceremony for the troops and resources was held at the Camp Lt. Col. Francisco C. Fernandez Jr. in Barangay Agan-an, Sibulan, on Wednesday.

The security personnel are composed of 502 from the PNP, 80 from the Civil Security Unit, 42 from the Philippine Coast Guard, 53 from the Bureau of Fire Protection, 6 from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, 156 from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, and 58 from the Traffic Management Unit.

These forces will be strategically stationed in major venues, parade routes, transport hubs, and public convergence areas to ensure security, manage traffic, and provide rapid emergency response, the PRO-NIR said.

The security deployment will run from October 16 to 24, aligning with the Buglasan Festival’s main events, which draw thousands of local and foreign visitors every year.

PRO-NIR said the operation underscores its commitment to maintaining peace, order, and safety during Negros Oriental’s biggest cultural celebration.*
