
A 78-year-old farmer was shot dead by an unidentified assailant while on his way home from his farm in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental. on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 1.
The Kabankalan City police identified the victim only as alias “Karl,” a resident of Purok Narra, Brgy. Tabugon.
The shooting happened at around 5:45 p.m., the police said.
Initial investigation showed that the victim had just finished working at his farm and was walking home while carrying a piece of bamboo when an unidentified suspect allegedly waylaid him.
The assailant then fired several shots using an unidentified firearm, hitting the victim in different parts of his body.
The suspect fled after the shooting.
The victim was brought to the Kabankalan District Hospital but was declared dead by the attending physician.*
