Informal settlers received their early Christmas gifts from the city government as Mayor Evelio Leonardia led the turnover of Certificates of Lot Assignment (COLA) at the Progreso Village Relocation Site in Barangay Vista Alegre on Tuesday, December 14.

The city mayor also led the rites for the electrification of 295 houses at Phases 4-A and 5-A.

The 74 households who became new owners of 64-square meter lots will occupy two phases of one of the biggest relocation sites in the Philippines, acting Secretary to the Mayor and concurrent Bacolod Housing Authority chief Ma. Victoria Parreñas, said.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiarn congratulated the new lot owners and told them to take pride in their Christmas blessings.

“Be proud of your titles. This is yours now. Take care of it as if it’s your prized possession,” Familiaran said.
The vice mayor was joined by incumbent Councilors Renecito Novero, Israel Salanga, Carl Lopez and Archie Baribar, as well as Grupo Progreso member Ed Guillem.

Executive Director Em Ang of the Emergency Operations Center-Task Force and deputy for medical and data analysis, Dr. Chris Sorongon, were also present.

They gave on-the-spot Covid-19 vaccines to the residents.
Ninety-three percent of the city’s vaccinable population already received their first dose, making Bacolod an inch closer towards herd immunity, Sorongon said.*
