Sixty households in Sitio Agogolo, Brgy. Macagahay, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, now have access to electricity following the completion of a P5.21 million electrification project.
The Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative (NOCECO) formally energized the project on Thursday, Oct. 1, during a ceremony at Agogolo Elementary School.
NOCECO said the project is the largest under its Sitio Electrification Program in the 5th District of Negros Occidental.
Sitio Agogolo is classified as a Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Area, making the installation of electric poles and other facilities more challenging.
Fifth District Rep. Emilio Bernardino Yulo III commended NOCECO personnel for completing the project despite the difficult terrain.
Moises Padilla Mayor Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo said the electrification fulfilled a long-standing request of residents in the community.
She also thanked Vice Mayor Felix Mathias Segundo Yulo III and the Sangguniang Bayan for approving the waiver of local government fees related to household electrical installations.
Garcia-Yulo said the municipal government initially submitted the request for Sitio Agogolo’s electrification to the Office of the Vice President in 2022.
The project was temporarily put on hold before its implementation resumed, she said.
The switching-on ceremony was also attended by Board Member Hadji Trojillo, barangay officials and NOCECO representatives.*
