Six mayoral candidates in Negros Occidental have joined the Lakas CMD headed by House Speaker Martin Romualdez, Cadiz Mayor Salvador Escalante said on Friday, Sept. 27.
The candidates officially joined the Lakas CMD upon filing up their Certificates of Nomination and Acceptance (CONAs) at Nature’s Village Resort in Talisay City on Thursday.
Escalante said he and incumbent mayors Madonnah Jaojoco of Toboso and Neil Lizares of Talisay City joined the Lakas CMD.
The mayoral candidates who also joined the party are Mika Escalante of Manapla, Rowena Lizares of Talisay City, Nehemia dela Cruz of Don Salvador Benedicto and Anejo Nicor of La Catellana, he said.
Rowena Lizares is running for mayor of Talisay City in place of her husband, Neil, who is on his third and last term.
Mika Escalante is the daughter of incumbent Manapla Mayor Manuel Escalante who is not seeking reelection.
Murcia Vice Mayor Johnny Reosura and councilors from several LGUs have also joined the Lakas CMD, he added.
The Lakas CMD will hold a general assembly at Nature’s Village Resort on Monday, he said.
Meanwhile, the mayors of the 2nd District of Negros Occidental will accompany Rep. Alfredo Marañon III when he files his COC for reelection before the Commission on Elections at the Social Hall of the Capitol in Bacolod City on Oct. 5. *
