49th Dinagsa Festival earns about P1B in sales: mayor

Mayor Salvador Escalante said the two-week 49th Dinagsa Festival held in honor of the Sr. Sto. Niño de Cadiz in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, which ended Sunday, January 29, generated close to P1 billion in sales for local entreprenuers.

They not only enjoyed the festival but also earned a lot, he said.

He said there were 62 activities held during the two-week festival.

Cadiz City will begin preparations early for its 50th Dinagsa celebration next year, he added.

It bested seven other tribes and took home P 200,000 in cash, a trophy and P1 million worth of projects.

The other winners were Tribu Hitalon – 1st runner up, Tribu Bucadcad – 2nd runner up, and Tribu Sicablun Quatro – 3rd runner up.

Tribu Majeca, Tribu Manara, Tribu Yabyab Doongol and Tribu Tigbanda received consolation prizes.*
