PCol. Noel Calderon Aliño, Bacolod acting police director, and 42 other city police officials tested negative for drugs, a report submitted to Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said Monday, April 24.

Aliño, who joined Benitez at a press conference at the Bacolod City Government Center, said more Bacolod policemen will also be subjected to surprise drug tests.

He said the Bacolod police will be going after remnants of drug groups in the city.

In his first six days as acting Bacolod police director, the city cops conducted 10 drug operations and confiscated 268 grams of shabu worth P1.8M, Aliño said.

Nabbed were four high value individuals related to known drug lords and six street level individuals, he said.

The police will be going after the actual sources of the drugs, he said.

Aliño also vowed to go after other illegal operations, including illegal gambling such as E-Sabong.

He urged the public to provide tips of crimes occurring in their areas to the police hotlines so they can be acted on immediately.

Aliño said he is also acting on unresolved crimes, including the dumping of severed body parts in Bacolod City.

Benitez said what is paramount is the integrity of the police force and the perception of the public of their work.*
