35 LGUs in W. Visayas get P76.3M incentive fund

Thirty-five local government units (LGUs) in Western Visayas were recipients of the 2023 Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund (SGLGIF) totaling P76.3 million during the ceremonial rollout turnover led by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Tuesday, January 10.

The recipients were the provinces of Aklan, Guimaras, Iloilo and Negros Occidental for the provincial category at P4 million each, and Passi, Bacolod, San Carlos, Talisay, Victorias, Cadiz, Escalante, Himamaylan and Sagay for the city category at P2.3 million each.

Lambunao, Mina, Pavia, Anilao, Bingawan and Concepcion in Iloilo; Patnongon, San Remigio, Sibalom, Barbaza, Caluya and Libertad in Antique; Banga, Buruanga, Ibajay, Kalibo, Malay and New Washington in Aklan; La Castellana and Manapla in Negros Occidental; Dumarao in Capiz and Nueva Valencia in Guimaras received P1.8 million each for the municipal category.

DILG Assistant Regional Director Maria Calpiza Sardua led the release of the incentive fund at the Diversion 21 Hotel in Iloilo City.

Teodora Sumagaysay, DILG provincial director, called on local government units in Negros Occidental who passed the SGLG to use the incentive fund they received for local development projects they need in their locality.

The SGLG awardees can choose from the menu of projects that cover livelihood, infrastructure, disaster preparedness and peace and order, she said.*
