Three of 17 tenants at the Manokan Country in Bacolod City have fully paid their arrears so it is possible that only 14 stalls will be closed down on Monday, City Administrator Pacifico Maghari III said Sunday, October 2.
Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez earlier said that those who failed to pay their arrears on the deadline on Friday will be closed down on Monday.
The Bacolod City Legal Office (CLO) served demand letters in August to the 17 tenants of the Manokan Country to pay their delinquent accounts totaling P8.64 million or face closure.
Maghari said the City Treasurer’s Office will give an update on whether more tenants had paid their arrears so it can be determined if less than 14 stalls will be closed down.
City Legal Officer Romeo Carlos Ting Jr. will make the final decision on Monday, Maghari said.*
