3 killed in Negros Occidental road crashes

A minor was killed when a green weapon carrier truck crashed into a house in Purok Super L, Brgy. Pandanon , in Don Salvadro Benedicto.*

Three persons, including a minor and two passengers, died in separate road crashes in two cities and a town in Negros Occidental on Monday, May 25.

In Kabankalan City, a 33-year-old dialysis patient died after the Toyota Revo he was riding collided with a Fuso flatbed truck bus along the national highway in Brgy. Binicuil at around 11:44 a.m.

Police identified the fatality as alias “John,” a resident of Brgy. Su-ay, Himamaylan City.

The Toyota Revo was driven by his father, alias “Godo,” 62, a pastor, who was brought to the Holy Mother of Mercy Hospital for treatment.

Initial investigation by the Kabankalan City Police Station showed the Revo was traveling from Himamaylan City to buy an oxygen tank for the passenger when the driver allegedly fell asleep, lost control, and counter flowed into the opposite lane.

The Revo then hit the front  of the Fuso flatbed truck  driven by alias “Josh,” 28, of Talisay City.

The passenger was rushed to the Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Police said the truck driver is under the custody of the Kabankalan City Police Station for proper disposition.

In Don Salvador Benedicto, a minor died after a green weapon carrier truck crashed into a house in Purok Super L, Brgy. Pandanon at around 12:55 p.m.

Police said the truck, driven by alias “France,” 58, was traveling downhill when it allegedly experienced brake malfunction.

The driver reportedly lost control while passing through a curved portion of the road, causing the truck to go straight and hit the house owned by the family of alias “Oliver.”

The impact destroyed  the house and injured several occupants.

The injured were identified as alias “Oliver,” alias “Larry,” alias “Mela,” 51, alias “Judy,” 23, and two minors, while another minor was declared dead by the municipal health officer.

Larry, Mela, and Judy were referred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City for further treatment.

Two passengers of the truck, alias “Jojo,” 37, and alias “Dex,” were also injured.

The driver was brought to the Don Salvador Benedicto Municipal Police Station.

Meanwhile, in Cadiz City, a 37-year-old motorcycle passenger died after the motorcycle he was riding overshot along Slaughter Road in Brgy. Tinampaan at around 10 p.m.

Police identified the fatality as alias “John,” a resident of Brgy. Zone 3, while the Honda TMX 155 motorcycle was driven by alias “Paul,” 27, of Brgy. Banquerohan, all of Cadiz City.

Initial investigation showed the motorcycle was traveling from the access road in Brgy. Tinampaan toward the city proper when the driver lost control and overshot on the roadside.

The driver and his passenger fell on the road and sustained injuries on different parts of their bodies.

They were brought by City DRRMO responders to the Cadiz District Hospital, where the passenger was declared dead by the attending physician.*
