A 20-year-old caretaker was killed after a group of unidentified men allegedly entered a nipa hut and attacked its occupants in Brgy. Minoyan, Murcia, Negros Occidental, early Thursday morning, Oct. 22.
Police identified the victim only as alias “Ensoy,” a resident of Purok New Site in the barangay.
The incident happened at around 12:50 a.m.
Based on witness accounts, four to five unidentified men allegedly entered the hut and ordered those inside not to move.
Police said one of the suspects struck a man identified as Silver Amalio on the head with a hard object, causing him to lose consciousness.
When Amalio regained consciousness, he reportedly saw Ensoy lying near the front door of the hut with a stab wound on the right side of his chest.
A knife was still embedded in the victim’s wound, police said.
Another person identified only as alias “Bandolf” ran out of the hut to seek help.
The victim was rushed to the Murcia Health Center but was declared dead by the municipal health officer.
Murcia police were informed of the incident at around 2:15 a.m. and immediately proceeded to the area to conduct an investigation.
The identities of the assailants and the motive for the attack remain under investigation.*
