2 Murcia residents nabbed at COMELEC checkpoint

The police arrested two persons after they allegedly dropped suspected shabu at a Commission on Elections checkpoint at the Murcia Road in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City, Tuesday, Jan. 14.

Alias “Aljon”, 33, and alias “Romnick”, 26, of Brgy. Blumentritt, Murcia, Negros Occidental, were arrested by Bacolod City Mobile Force Company operatives.

The policemen who were conducting a checkpoint flagged down the suspects riding on a motorcycle when they allegedly dropped a transparent sachet containing suspected shabu.

The police seized 0.5 gram of suspected shabu, and a 10-inch knife from the suspects.

Charges will be filed against them for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, COMELEC Order 358, and Batas Pambansa Bilang 6 for Illegal Possession of Bladed, Pointed, or Blunt Weapon, the police said.*
