Two people, including a fresh graduate, died in separate vehicular accidents in Bacolod City.
The first incident happened Tuesday night, December 22, at Bangga Mt. Carmel, Circumferential Road in Barangay Alijis.
Killed was Prince Joaqin Relatos, 22, of the barangay.
Relatos graduated with a civil engineering degree from the University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos in Bacolod City this year.
The victim was on board a tricycle driven by 28-year-old Welmar De Asis when they were hit by an unidentified vehicle behind them, a police report said.
The vehicle then sped away.
The impact of the accident caused the tricycle to swerve to the opposite lane where it was hit by an oncoming truck.
Relatos died on the spot while the tricycle driver was brought to the hospital after he sustained injuries.
The truck driver was placed in police custody.
In another accident, a woman who was crossing the highway in Barangay Sum-ag died after she was hit by an armored van today, December 23.
The victim was identified as Pacita Ugdamen, who just came from their barangay hall to register for assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
When the victim crossed the street, she was hit by the speeding armored van driven by Dioslapid Pelayo of Barangay Banago who was overtaking another vehicle.
The van driver is now in police custody.*
