Two fishermen from Cadiz City whose boats were capsized by strong waves on Friday, Jan. 10, have been rescued.

The 30 and 59 year old fishermen ventured out to fish despite unfavorable weather, Eizel Kate Aro, Cadiz OIC Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer, said.

The Cadiz City DRRMO received a distress call at 2:15 p.m. Friday that two small motorized bancas capsized in the waters off Sitio Balhin-Balhin, Barangay Tiglawigan, Cadiz, due to rough seas, she said.

The two fishermen from Barangay Tiglawigan were successfully rescued by the CDRRMO personnel and Tiglawigan residents, she said.

The 59-year-old fisherman suffered from an abrasion on the chin and elevated pulse rate, but the rest of his vital signs were normal, she said.

He was brought to the Cadiz Emergency Clinic, she said.*
