Two men were arrested in separate operations involving suspected theft of telecommunications equipment in Bacolod City on Sept. 20 and 23, according to Globe Telecom’s Security Response Unit (SRU).
In the latest operation, police and security personnel arrested alias “Rodman”, 27, at around 11:20 a.m. on Sept. 23 in connection with a series of reported cell site thefts in the city.
The joint operation involved Globe SRU, FTAP, Philtower, Unity Security and the police.
Authorities recovered remote radio unit (RRU) cables and a lithium battery reportedly taken from the FTAP/Globe cell site in Brgy. Handumanan.
Another suspect, identified as alias “Ding”, escaped during the operation.
Globe said a criminal complaint was being prepared against Vargas for inquest proceedings.
In a separate incident on Sept. 20, security personnel apprehended alias “Leonard”, 32, at around 2:27 a.m. in Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod City.
Several lengths of suspected stolen telecommunications cables were reportedly recovered from his possession.
Globe said further investigation and case documentation were ongoing in connection with the Sept. 20 incident.*
