2 abandoned babies found in Bacolod

Police Station 7 policemen found two new-born babies, one dead and another alive, in Bacolod City, Wednesday night, Aug. 21.

Station Commander Capt. Greeky Cayao told DIGICAST NEGROS on Thursday that the police found a dead baby, already in a state of decomposition, a few meters away from the Alijis barangay hall.

Foul odor led a concerned citizen to discover the baby and seek the help of the police.

Cayao said that the baby had been left in the area for about three days.

The police are determining who the mother of the baby is, he said.

Meanwhile, a newborn baby was also found by teenagers in Hacienda Guanzon, Brgy. Mansilingan.

Cayao said the teens were looking for spiders in a vacant lot when they saw the baby.

The police said the mother, whose name was withheld, left the baby in the area after she was discharged from a lying-in center in Mansilingan.

Cayao said that the mother, aged 22, was afraid that her parents would find out that she gave birth.

The police said the mother and her baby are now with her parents.*
