14 TLJPH frontliners quarantined, Covid hits 5

Fourteen personnel of the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City have been quarantined following a spike in COVID-19 cases, Dr. Maryann Maestral, TLJPH chief, said Sunday, January 16.

She said one nurse and four doctors tested positive for COVID-19, while the rest had high risk exposure as a result of a recent spike in cases among patients and watchers.

The TLJPH has temporarily suspended OB/Gyne outpatient department services and is limiting admissions to emergency cases only until further notice.

Maestral said there have been a lot of pregnant women who have tested positive for COVID-19.

“We enjoin the public to please refrain from unnecessary exposure by staying home and observing at least the minimum precaution as cases are beginning to rise in our locality,” a TLJPH advisory said.

Meanwhile, COVID -19 vaccinations at the hospital will continue. “Please follow the scheduled time assigned to you. TLJPH does not accept walk-in vaccination clients,” the advisory said.

Maestral said hospital personnel have been instructed to stay in their assigned areas only and not to eat together to prevent a further COVID-19 spread.*
