
Twelve graduates from Negros Island-based schools landed in the top 10 of the March 2026 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers, based on results released by the Professional Regulation Commission on Tuesday, May 12.
The PRC announced that 18,376 out of 32,796 examinees, or 56.03 percent, passed the elementary level, while 45,001 out of 61,561 examinees, or 73.10 percent, passed the secondary level.
Five individuals from Negros schools made it to the elementary level’s top 10 list.
Sahn Chien Alentiojo Montecastro of Central Philippine State University-Candoni ranked fifth with a rating of 93.80 percent.
Jessie Jane Sanchez Lumawag of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos ranked seventh with 93.40 percent.
Three Negros graduates tied at eighth place with 93.20 percent: Rowela Ambong De-ala of Bago City College, Kristel Clair Tia Paltu-ob of Kabankalan Catholic College, and Nera Andre Belaño Quinto of Carlos Hilado Memorial State University-Talisay.
In the secondary level, seven graduates from Negros Island-based schools entered the top 10.
Shauna Espina Tifora of Negros Oriental State University ranked second with a rating of 95 percent.
Three graduates tied at fifth place with 94.20 percent: Kim Patricia Yanson Espinosa of Carlos Hilado Memorial State University-Talisay, Jemark Mag-aso Tipontipon of Mount Carmel College-Escalante, and Dyann Alam Tubio of Silliman University.
Eavanlee Dollosa Villar of Central Philippine Adventist College ranked seventh with 93.80 percent.
Maybelyn Manlanat Panunciar of Central Philippine State University-San Carlos ranked ninth with 93.40 percent.
Andrea Uella Bersales Falcunit of Philippine Normal University-Visayas ranked tenth with 93.20 percent.
Negros schools also appeared in the list of top-performing schools.
Carlos Hilado Memorial State University-Talisay ranked seventh among top-performing elementary level schools with 50 to 99 examinees and at least 90 percent passing rate, after posting a 96.43 percent passing rate with 54 passers out of 56 examinees.
Central Philippines State University-Victorias also ranked ninth in the same category with a 95.31 percent passing rate, after 61 out of 64 examinees passed.
In the secondary level, Philippine Normal University-Visayas in Cadiz City ranked second among schools with 100 to 299 examinees and at least 90 percent passing rate, with 175 passers out of 177 examinees, or 98.87 percent.
CHMSU, in a statement, congratulated its College of Education faculty, staff, and new Licensed Professional Teachers, saying its graduates from the Alijis, Binalbagan, and Talisay campuses surpassed national passing rates in both elementary and secondary levels.
NORSU also congratulated Tifora for placing second in the secondary level, saying the university community is proud of her achievement.*
