The Philippine Coast Guard named Capt. Weniel Azcuna the new commander of the Coast Guard District Western Visayas on Monday, Nov. 13.
PCG Deputy Commandant for Administration (DCA), Vice Admiral Allan Victor Dela Vega, presided over the change of command at the CGDWV Headquarters in Iloilo City.
Azcuna replaced outgoing WV Commander Arnaldo Lim.
Dela Vega, in his speech, said that the occasion was not just a mere passing of the torch, it was a seamless transition of service as the legacy of the district is built upon the contributions of every individual who has served.
The outgoing commander received the Coast Guard Distinguished Service Medal and Ribbon for his service as the WV Coast Guard head.
Plaques of appreciation from the 301st, 302nd, and 303rd Infantry Brigades of the Philippine Army were also given to Lim.*
