Woman stabbed 63 times

A 36-year-old woman was stabbed 63 times by her foreign national husband during a domestic dispute in Brgy. Pinucauan, Vallehermoso, Negros Oriental, on Thursday, Jan. 29.

Police said the stabbing happened about 4 p.m. and was reported to the Vallehermoso Municipal Police Station shortly after.

Police investigation showed that the suspect, a 40-year-old American national and the victim’s husband, had just arrived at their residence from Bacolod City when a heated argument erupted inside their bedroom.

Police said the argument escalated into violence, with the suspect allegedly stabbing the victim 63 times using a bladed weapon and inflicting additional injuries using broken glass from a window jalousie.

Responding police officers forcibly entered the room after initial negotiation attempts failed and found the victim unconscious and bleeding on the floor.

The victim was rushed to the Vallehermoso Rural Health Unit and later transferred to San Carlos Doctors Hospital for further medical treatment.

The suspect surrendered to the police and was placed under arrest as authorities continue their investigation for the filing of appropriate charges.*
