
A total of 1,019 Bacolod City learners received backpacks as part of the simultaneously launching of the “PagbaBAGo: A Million Learners and Trees” of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) in key areas of the country on Saturday, May 27.
Seedlings were also turned over by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources to Bacolod for the million trees program, Dr. Chris Sorongon, OVP – Bacolod satellite office volunteer, said Sunday.
Vice President Sara Duterte, who led the launching of the program at the Mandaue City Sports Complex in Cebu, said the initiative intends to provide students with one million bags containing school supplies and dental kits, plant one million trees for environmental sustainability, and promote family planning among parents.



“We hope that in the six years, while we are in the Office of the Vice President, the campaign will reach one million children and one million parents,” Duterte, who is also the secretary of education, said.
“The OVP has partnered with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Department of Education in the implementation of the campaign,” she said.
Sorongon said the learner recipients of backpacks in Bacolod were from Vista Alegre Elementary School – 196, Fernando F. Gonzaga Elementary School – 101 and Vista Alegre-Granada Relocation Elementary School – 723.*
