VisCom head retiring, awards Negros troopers

Lt. Gen. Benedict Arevalo, Armed Forces of the Philippines Visayas Command chief, who is set to retire on March 21 awarded Negros Island troopers for their bravery in combat during his farewell visit to Camp Major Gerona in Brgy. Minoyan, Murcia, Negros Occidental, on Monday, March 4.

Arevalo awarded the 303rd Infantry Brigade troops for their bravery and effort to serve the community during his visit, a press release from the 303IB said.

He recognized and awarded the Brown Eagle Troopers, its battalions, and supporting units for their accomplishments and continuous efforts in serving the community, particularly the people of Negros Island, the press release said.

Prior to becoming the AFP Visayas Commander, Arevalo was the brigade commander of the 303IB in 2018.

He thanked the 303IB troops for their support, respect, and loyalty during his tenure as brigade commander. He also commended the brigade’s excellence in the performance of its mission.

The event was attended by BGen. Orlando Edralin, 303IB commander, battalion commanders assigned in Negros Island, brigade staff officers and enlisted personnel.

Edralin thanked Arevalo for his leadership and guidance during his tenure as VisCom chief.

“Your Army in Negros will continue its commitment to serving the people and upholding the integrity of the Philippine Army, especially in serving and protecting the Negrenses,” Edralin assured.*
