Rep. Jeffrey Ferrer (Neg. Occ., 4th District) said on Monday, Oct. 6, that it does not matter whether it is the Visayan Bloc or the Visayas Caucus, what is important is that the needs of the people are addressed.
Ferrer was named chairman of the Negros Island Region in the Visayas Caucus created by former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Following the change in the House leadership Bacolod Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez reconvened the Visayan Bloc.
Benitez on Saturday said the Visayan Caucus died with the former speaker.
There is no need for the two groups to compete, Ferrer said.
Ferrer said he is not sure if the Visayan Caucus will continue under the new speaker but it is no big deal as long as benefits are delivered to Negros and the NIR.*
