“I’m officially endorsing Vice Mayor Junb Bantug for mayor of Victorias City in the 2025 mid-term elections,” Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez said on Monday, Sept 23.

Benitez is not seeking reelection as mayor of Victorias City since he is running for representative of the 3rd District of Negros Occidental.

”Vice Mayor Junb has been an outstanding leader in the legislative branch and a reliable partner in supporting the programs and services we’ve worked hard to put in place. His leadership has been crucial in getting things done,” Benitez said in a press statement.

“Since the start of our term, we’ve passed 153 ordinances – that’s more than what was passed in the previous 15 years, which had only 148. In just two years and two months, our Sangguniang Panlungsod has achieved so much more,” he said.

They also set a record for the number of resolutions, with 1,365 passed so far – the highest ever, surpassing the previous record of 923 from 2010-2013, Benitez said.

However, it’s not just about the numbers, he said.

“These are policies that make a real difference in the lives of our people and align with our 6-point agenda, helping to make Victorias a better place to live, work, and play. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and I’m confident that with Vice Mayor Junb at the helm, our city will keep growing and moving forward,” Benitez said.*
