The Victorias City government led by Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez inaugurated the Victorias City Dog Shelter, the newly-improved Police Station, and the acquisition of gym equipment for various youth and development programs on Monday, January 29.

The Victorias City Dog Shelter in Barangay XIV is the first LGU-operated shelter in Negros Occidental, a press release from Victorias City said Tuesday.

At least 100 rescued dogs will be housed in the shelter, which will boost the rabies prevention and control program in Victorias, it said.

The newly-improved Victorias City Police Station located at Montinola Street, Barangay IV, was also inaugurated.

The renovated facility is in response to the reorganization of the agency and to accommodate the increasing number of police services, the press release said.

The improvements will create a more conducive working environment for the city’s police force, fostering optimal performance and effective service delivery, Benitez said.

A blessing of the gym equipment was also conducted in support of the various Youth and Development Programs in the city.

Benitez, in his speech, said the equipment will be open for everyone’s use, not just the athletes.

The gym equipment were temporarily installed at the Victorias City Sports and Amusement Center under the supervision of the City Sports and Youth Development Office. *
